James grew up with a keen interest in photography, and got into the darkroom at a fairly young age. His interest grew during his college years, and he received his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Utah with a BFA in Studio Art with a Photography Emphasis. He still works in alternative photographic processes that were learned and practiced in art school. Using some of these historic techniques in combination with infrared film are also digital negatives are methods he loves to utilize.
In addition to art photography, James does editorial assignments, events, sports, architectural/ real estate, and other commercial work as well.
James also has a strong interest in protecting our public lands, and preserving them as they are. He enjoys and loves many forms of outdoor recreation, including backcountry skiing, mountaineering and hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and sailing.
Currently he is the owner of several small businesses, and has a studio in Seattle, Washington, USA.
